Math faculty

Although four math courses are encouraged, three mathematics credits are required in grades 9 through 12. All students will take Algebra I and Geometry.

Students at Leander High School are given the opportunity to apply for any of the advanced courses listed above. Prerequisite math courses have been established for these courses to insure that students are properly prepared. Acceptance into an advanced math course is based on the student's grades, math teacher recommendation, and a placement test.

 

Calculator Information

Each teacher has a classroom set of graphing/programmable calculators for student use when appropriate. Students are encouraged to have their own calculator for home/school use. Any scientific calculator is recommended; a TI-83 or TI 83 plus graphing/programmable calculator is preferred.
